Birthdays

We like to celebrate birthdays at school!!  I will give your child a birthday crown and the class will sing to him/her, but more elaborate celebrations should be saved for home!

If you would like to send a special treat, that is great!   Cupcakes are acceptable - BUT MESSSY!!! Why not send your child's favorite snack, or a simple treat such as:

Ice cream cups                          Fruit Roll-Ups
Little Debbie snacks                  Gushers
Fruit snacks                               Jello cups
Popsicles                                   Ice cream bars

Summer birthdays will be celebrated in May.

Behavior Management

For the next few months our class will be our “family away from home,” and part of my job is to help the children become caring, productive and social beings. I encourage respect for all, polite language, patience with others, self-control, and a good work ethic. I use a colored card system to help children adjust and monitor their behavior at school. Each day, all children begin with a green card. If a child shows exceptionally good behavior, his/her card will be turned to purple. If he/she is having difficulty following the rules a warning will be given and his/her card will be changed to yellow. If unacceptable behavior continues, the card will be changed to red.

If a student’s behavior improves, the card will be turned back to green. Children who have a yellow card will lose 5 minutes of recess. Children with red cards will lose all of their playtime. Students who end the day on green or purple will receive a Bolt Buck to spend in the PBIS Store.

As needed, I will call, email, or send a note to you to discuss any concerns. Serious behavior problems will be referred to the office. (Threatening, hitting, biting, etc.)

Special area teachers may have different policies for managing unacceptable behaviors.

Websites to Use at Home

Your child has an account at Reading Eggs.  This is a wonderful site for beginning reading activities.  If you have lost your child's user name and password, please email me and I will get it to you.
